At around 4 am a few hours after the shooting, Dilpreet Singh Dhahan, a local gangster, took to social media to claim responsibility for the shooting.
Famous Punjabi singer Parmish Verma was shot at by some unidentified persons in sector 91 in Mohali on late Friday night. A police source has said Verma's knee was injured in the firing. Both Verma and his friend were rushed to the hospital where they were given the medical treatment. The singer will soon start shooting for the Punjabi remake of Ajay Devgn's Singham, where he will portray the main character. The bullets hit the singer and another team member and close friend, Laadi. In the post, Dilpreet said that he is lucky to be alive but had warned him that if he meets face to face, Parmish will face the consequences.
Later in the day, a gangster Dilpreet Singh Dhaha owed up to the shooting and bragged about it on his Facebook profile.

The police official said that they were reviewing CCTV footage obtained from the spot as part of the investigation into the incident. Dilpreet is accused in another murder in Chandigarh where he along with two other people had shot and killed a sarpanch of a village in April previous year in sector 38 in broad daylight. It was also not clear why Mr Verma was attacked either.
