Adding to further misery, the precipitation is expected to change to several hours of freezing rain at some point on Sunday.
Environment Canada says the temperature will fall below the freezing mark Saturday and rain will change over into freezing rain possibly mixed with ice pellets at times in the afternoon lasting into the evening. "Closer to the shores of lake Ontario is expected only rain".
The rain will begin in the Greater Toronto Area late Friday evening and turn into freezing rain on Saturday followed by ice pellets as colder air moves into the region.
Currently Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent are the only areas not under threat of an ice storm but they do have a statement issued for heavy rain this weekend.

Coupled with winds reaching up to 60 km/hr, there is a potential for widespread power outages due to downed trees or power lines.
