The list of World's most admired 2018 by YouGov is out.

Queen Elizabeth II has emerged as the top choice of Brits, along with other members of the royal family including Princess Kate, Prince Harry and William featuring eminently on both lists. This is a result of Jackie Chan's more universally favourable worldwide profile: while Xi Jinping is by far the most admired man in China, Chan's global reach is just enough to push him above the premier. The women's list features celebrities out of which Angelina Jolie and Emma Watson are known for their humanitarian work.

Bill Gates and Angelina Jolie top the lists of the most admired men and women in the world - Gates has been #1 every time the survey's been conducted.

Significantly, the men's list sees quite a few renowned politicians apart from the sportspersons and actors - Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin, Narendra Modi, Donald Trump, Imran Khan, and Recep Tayyip Erdo─čan.

Amnesty International recorded a noticeable decrease in the overall number of executions carried out for drug-related offences. In 2017, Amnesty campaigned on the case of Jack Greene, who was convicted in 1992 of the murder of Sidney Burnett.


The male list was full of men from different political, business and sporting backgrounds. Actor Jackie Chan, President Xi Jinping, Jack Ma occupy the later positions. Russians ranked Donald Trump at 19 and Barack Obama at 20.

The research, which also looks at the public figures country wise, found that Sir David Attenborough and the Queen are Britain's most admired man and woman.

The company said that the questions it used to come up with its rankings included "Who do you truly admire" and "Who do you most admire?"

All of the surveys were conducted online, and in numerous countries the internet penetration is low to the point where the sample can only be said to be representative to the online population.
