The flamboyant, barrier-breaking singer is a tough act to follow, but the trailer certainly packs a punch.
A very brief teaser for Bohemian Rhapsody was released yesterday, and provided the first hint that Rami Malek is the flawless fit as Freddie Mercury. We'll see. Tune in below. Per the studio, fans are invited to record their "Bohemian Rhapsody" rendition by visiting PutMeInBohemian.com on a mobile device.
Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury
The official trailer for the Queen Bio has arrived and thankfully it looks pretty awesome! Sacha Baron Cohen signed on to play Mercury in 2011, but stepped down from the role two years later, citing creative differences with the members of Queen.
The release comes after the movie's original director, Bryan Singer, was reportedly fired in December after going AWOL following a Thanksgiving break. A thin Mercury, a long-haired Mercury, hair-slick-back-to-perfection Mercury alternatively grace the screen, and you are left with no doubt that the movie will potentially be a big success. Dexter Fletcher (Eddie the Eagle) took over as director and he's also due to make a biopic about Elton John entitled Rocketman. The film follows the band's meteoric rise, charts their near-implosion, and climaxes with their unforgettable performance at Live Aid.
Work on the film began as long ago as 2010 but has been beset by difficulty. Bryan Singer was the original director onboard, but the filmmaker was sacked during production and replaced with Dexter Fletcher (Eddie the Eagle). We've seen behind-the-scenes photos and even brief video that leaked from the set, but this official tease from Bohemian Rhapsody is the real deal.
