"During one of this weekend's commencement ceremonies, we were inappropriately aggressive in rushing students across the stage", Fuchs wrote in a statement on Twitter. In videos of the incidents, the usher grabbed onto students, sometimes by the collar and some in an embrace with both arms, before swinging them around to the rest of the walkway.
Many Twitter users responded to Fuchs' tweeted apology with criticism for not mentioning the person who moved the students, nor if the university would discipline him.
Fuchs stated that the faculty has changed its own training to post-secondary school college students.
Telusma, a member of the Beta Sigma chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, said he had to shove the usher in order to break free of his grip.
"It's a tradition to stroll at graduation if you choose to, and people have been doing this for years", Garcia-Wilde told the Gainesville Sun on Sunday. While the man on stage appeared to be reacting to any student who paused to display joy, it became an issue of race because people made it an issue of race, whether the facts support that assertion or not. "But my two friends who graduated with me really wanted to do it, so they tried".
Air France-KLM CEO Quits After Pay Dispute
Prior to the vote, Janaillac said it would be hard for him to remain CEO if staff rejected the pay offer. This table compares Air France-KLM and its rivals' net margins, return on equity and return on assets.
Oliver Telusma, one of Garcia-Wilde's friends and a political science graduate, told the publication he felt embarrassed and degraded over the event.
"This little snapshot of what happened at graduation is a little bit of insight into how the university treats minority students, especially black students", he said. "So the university just regrets that the acts of those who were monitoring the lineup could dampen the spirits of the day".
Winick told the newspaper that school officials are working to obtain more information about the incident and verify that only blacks students were targeting before releasing the usher's name. Video shows the commencement celebrations being cut short.
She also said she was looking into the claims that only Black students were mistreated.
