According to Rolling Stone, Kirwan joined the band following 1968's Mr. Wonderful and would go on to write and record music on five albums: 1969's Then Play On and Blues Jam at Chess, 1970's Kiln House, 1971's Future Games and 1972's Bare Trees. Moreover, when the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame inducted the band into the organization in 1998, Kirwan didn't even attend the ceremony. Kirwan continued, stating that his legacy would live on in Fleetwood Mac's music.

"You will forever be missed", Fleetwood said in the post.

Danny was just 18 when he was asked to join the band, with his first single with them, Albatross, making it to number one in the US.

Divorced, Kirwan is survived by a son. He then played on their third album, Then Play On, released in September 1969, which reached #6 on the United Kingdom charts.

By 1972, the group's evolving lineup had changed significantly. Kirwan wrote some of the key tracks on those albums, "Sands Of Time", "Child Of Mine", and "Bare Trees".

Later that year, Kirwan was sacked from the band, amid bad behavior and alcoholism.

His most recent work involved three solo albums which were given a belated CD release in February 2006, but only in Japan.

Kirwan was sacked by Fleetwood, who became acting manager in the band, in 1972 due to continued confrontations regarding his alcoholism.
