Stormy Daniels, the adult film star who alleges Trump's lawyer paid her $130,000 to keep quiet about an affair she had with the President in 2006, was arrested in OH on Wednesday night, TMZ reports.

"She was there for her performance, and unbeknownst to her, the police set up a sting operation within the strip club with multiple officers", said Avenatti.

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, was held overnight on Wednesday and released at around 6am on Thursday morning after posting a bail bond of $6,000. Daniels started performing at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to an affidavit filed in Franklin County Municipal Court. Daniels was accused of grabbing a female detective's head and forcing the officer's face between her breasts.

Before the charges were dropped, Avenatti said in a tweet that the arrest was "a setup & politically motivated" and "reeks of desperation".

"Just received word that my client was arrested in Columbus Ohio while performing the same act she has performed across the nation at almost a hundred strip clubs", his tweet read. "We will fight all bogus charges", he tweeted, including a hashtag for the word "basta" which is Italian for "enough".

Charging documents say Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, was arrested for touching a patron at a "sexually oriented" business in violation of the law commonly known as the Community Defense Act. "There has to be higher priorities", Avenatti wrote on Twitter.

According to an arrest affidavit cited by the New York Times, Daniels was dancing topless at the club when she pressed patrons' faces into her chest, fondled the breasts of some women in the audience and performed similar acts on three police officers who were at the establishment.

However, police say they were there investigating complaints of alleged prostitution and drug activity.

Man with world's longest fingernails finally cuts them off
A nail technician performed the surgery armed with power tools at a ceremony in the Times Square Ripley's museum on Wednesday. The Guinness World Record holder for the longest fingernails ever on a single hand has had his claws cut after 66 years.

"During her performance, they asked her if they could place their face in between her breasts while she was performing on stage", he said. "I deeply apologize to my fans in Columbus", she said.

Daniels canceled her Thursday night performance in Columbus because of the charges.

A person who answered the phone at Sirens declined to comment.

Just rcvd word that my client @StormyDaniels was arrested in Columbus Ohio whole performing the same act she has performed across the nation at almost a hundred strip clubs.

The case also revolves around Michael Cohen, Trump's former lawyer who is under investigation for a range of financial matters, including a payment to Daniels that was apparently made right before the 2016 election. The White House has said Trump denies an affair happened.

Although the law has been in effect for over a decade, a 2017 report from The Columbus Dispatch found that it is seldom enforced.

Daniels has said Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen paid her the $130,000. Avenatti said in another tweet, appearing to suggest a set-up. He initially said he used his own money to pay Daniels and was not reimbursed by Trump.
