PlayStation has been having a lot of success this console generation, thanks in no small part to successful exclusive titles like Detroit: Become Human or God of War. Now, 24 years and four generations of hardware later, Sony is celebrating selling 500 million consoles.
Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced the 500 Million Limited Edition PlayStation 4 Pro, a new PlayStation 4 Pro model celebrating PlayStation systems sales topping 525.3 million units worldwide. The case will feature a transluscent dark blue shell and come with a DualShock 4 wireless controller with a matching scheme.

The first ever 2TB PS4 Pro is a special edition console that will only be released in limited numbers later this month.
You can also get your paws on a commemorative Gold Wireless Headset 500 Million Limited Edition separately. We'll see the console launch at retailers around the U.S. on August 24, while the controller and headset will follow in early September.
The units will be serialized with a copper plaque on it, though it's hard to think of 50,000 units as a "limited" run.
