Just days after reportedly reiterating a request for a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves, Jimmy Butler was on the practice floor with his teammates on Wednesday.

As the GM watched on the sidelines during a scrimmage, sources said that Butler yelled to Layden: "You f--ing need me, Scott. You can't win without me, '" ESPN reported, citing sources. There have been a flood of rumors on Butler's National Basketball Association future since his initial trade request including contradictory reports coming from within the Minnesota front office.

While these rumors sound fantastic for the Timberwolves moving forward, a trade with the Miami Heat and Houston Rockets now seems (close to) void.

Minnesota had shared Butler's medical information with Miami late last week, sources said, a typical last step before finalizing a trade.

Butler, meanwhile, doesn't sound like he's backing down from his trade request, even if he's still under contract with the Timberwolves for one more year.

It was speculated that Karl-Anthony Towns signed his max extension because Jimmy Butler was getting the boot, and now he's practicing with the team?

Butler reportedly took part in drills and also scrimmaged with the Wolves.

The Wolves recently turned down a Miami Heat package including their prized player Josh Richardson and a first-round pick in return for Butler, but owner Glen Taylor didn't see it as enough and turned down the deal, still without an imminent agreement to ship Butler out, as they prepare to start the season with him. He dominated the gym in every way. Butler is said to prefer the Heat over all other potential destinations.
