After launching new iPhones, Apple is all set to unveil what it has been planning with its computer and tablet segment. It's very possible there will be more than one model of this new iPad Pro, varying either in size or storage capacity (or both).
The main news on Tuesday will be revamped iPad Pros with Face ID and a new charging port, a new laptop destined to replace the ageing MacBook Air, and a new Mac mini geared toward professional users, according to people familiar with the plans. This will be a huge shift towards a more universal standard, all mobile Apple devices have relied on lightning port till now.
As for internals, the 2018 iPad Pro lineup will feature a beefed-up version of Apple's already powerful A12 Bionic chip found inside its 2018 iPhone lineup. We'll be liveblogging the event right here, so come back for the latest news when the event begins. If Apple had somehow succeeded in working out all the kinks, AirPower is a product that would benefit the iPhone the most, which means last month's big iPhone event might have been the best time for the company to announce its availability-not a month later alongside iPads and MacBooks. Apple is also expected to bundle an 18W USB-C adapter along with a USB-A to USB-C cable with the new iPads for faster charging times.
FDA approves first new flu drug in nearly two decades
It should be out in only a matter of weeks, according to USA Today and it's the first new flu drug in 20 years, reportsPopSci. It works about as well as Tamiflu, Roche's older flu treatment, which is also available in cheaper generic versions.
One other issue with the current iPad is the time it takes to charge. The low-priced replacement, which may or may not keep the "Air" designation (it could also be a cheaper addition to the 30cm MacBook line) will include a screen that's roughly 33cm in size, but with thinner bezels around the display to reduce the laptop's overall footprint. As per rumors, the new MacBook will be priced from anywhere between $999 to $1,200. We assumed that Apple had forgotten about it (the device hasn't seen an update since 2015), but according to reliable analyst sources, there is indeed a refresh planned for the 7.9-inch slate. After all, the Mac mini was extremely popular as an HTPC due to its compact size. The Air, as a whole, hasn't been refined in three years, and in its current version has a display that's way overdue for an upgrade, well lower in resolution than the 1080p norm.
To nobody's great surprise, the previous Apple event, in September, was the traditional start-of-fall fest that was all about the phones, revealing the iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max to the world. However, post the event, the company removed all references of the wireless charger from its website. This, of course, stands in stark contrast to the Apple of the 90s which was forced to downsize and keep things simple.
There are a variety of rumours circulating about the new AirPods, including noise-cancelling and water resistance, but one feature the new version of the earbuds will nearly certainly get is wireless charging given that Apple first revealed the earbuds' new wireless charging case a year ago. However, given the lack of any concrete leaks confirming their existence, it does seem unlikely that we will see AirPods 2 being unveiled next week. The event is being held at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and will be live streamed. Drop a comment and let us know!
