Scott Wilson has died at the age of 78.
News of Wilson's passing comes just hours after it was announced that he will appear in Walking Dead's upcoming ninth season, reprising his role as Hershel. It was revealed over the weekend at NYCC that Wilson would reprise his role as Hershel Greene in season nine, though it is not clear how many episodes he will appear in.
There were rumors that Wilson might be returning to The Walking Dead in some form in Season 9, but the details had not been released.

He was 76 years old and had been battling cancer.

"I loved him", said longtime friend and activist Arlin Miller.
Wilson is survived by his wife, Heavenly.
