Witnesses told CTV Ottawa that a smaller plane hit a larger plane and the smaller aircraft then crashed into a field near McGee Side Road in Carp. The other aircraft was redirected to Ottawa International Airport and safely landed there, sustaining only minor damage, Canada's CBC news reported.
A spokesman for Ottawa paramedics, Marc-Antoine Deschamps, says one person who was in the plane that crashed in the field was pronounced dead on scene.
"Roger, are you declaring an emergency at this time?" the terminal responds.
Ottawa Paramedics superintendent Tom Capyk said first responders arrived to find a plane in flames and one passenger still inside. The police said that there are serious injuries and rescue operation is underway. Robert Bernier told reporters.

The National Weather Service had warned of thunderstorms in the area, with some producing gusty winds and heavy rain. In a statement , Amazon said "severe weather" caused a wall to collapse at the facility in Dundalk.
Ottawa police said two small aircraft struck each other in Carp, Ontario around 10.11am.
Police have closed a section of McGee Side Road between the 417 westbound offramp and William Mooney Road.
"The Transportation Safety Bureau has been engaged on this incident and will be taking carriage of the investigation".
