Another formidable bout of snowfall is heading to the Chicago area Sunday night, possibly dumping 4 to 7 inches of snow before temperatures are expected to plummet to risky levels the region hasn't seen in years.

But this storm - however much snow it dumps on us - is a one-two punch, ushering in frigid temperatures again. The effect could stay in place through Thursday with wind chills of 50 to 55 below projected.

By Wednesday and Thursday morning, lows might hit in the minus 20s (without the wind chill factored in) in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, and in the minus teens and 20s in Des Moines, Detroit, and Milwaukee, Weather.com reported, saying that they will be the coldest temperatures in 20 years.

The National Weather Service's Weather Prediction Center said that parts of southeastern Minnesota and Wisconsin could see over a foot of snow.

It will start snowing in the Chicago area on Sunday night (January 27); the extreme cold marked by record low temperatures is expected to last until Friday. The high on Thusday in Chicago is not expected to top -14 degrees.

In addition to the harsh cold, heavy snow already hammered the upper Midwest and Great Lakes area on Monday, resulting in "dangerous to impossible travel conditions", according to CNN. The winter storm will then bring upwards of a foot of snow to MI before targeting the Northeast overnight Monday into Tuesday.

Even snowplow drivers are having trouble keeping up with conditions Monday.

He added: "I'm not involved in negotiations about players". "You can believe you are ready because you train but you need time". But that consistency, every three days for 11 months during 10 years, that's what I respect and admire the most.

"It is going to bring in the coldest air mass of the season so far", AccuWeather senior meteorologist Dave Dombeck told The Post on Monday. Herscher received the least amount of snow, according to WMAQ, with just half an inch, and Waukegan received the most, with 7.3 inches.

There will be lows of under 30F in North Dakota, eastern South Dakota and Minnesota.

The snow may be briefly heavy before ending later Tuesday evening.

It warned frostbite can occur to exposed skin within minutes under such conditions.

The warning states: "A band of rain will arrive across Wales, northern and western England through the middle of Tuesday, then move eastwards through Tuesday afternoon and evening".

More widespread rain, changing to snow artives late Tuesday morning and especially during the early afternoon.

City services have been postponed in Chicago, where around five inches of snow fell Monday night.
