"It's amusing because Spike Lee is here and the first thing I ever did, the first two films we ever did was extra work on [Lee's film] "Mo" Betta Blues" and "New Jack City' by Mario Van Peebles", Smollett said.
Empire star Jussie Smolett has reportedly had his scenes cut down from the Fox musical drama following his brutal attack in Chicago last month. The two men were subsequently released without charges by law enforcement after being questioned on Friday.
Smollett's attorneys, Todd S. Pugh and Victor P. Henderson, issued a statement to CNN Saturday night saying Smollett was angry about these latest developments. He's one of six children, and joined his brothers and sisters on the Food Network show "Smollett Eats".

Mr Markle dismissed the claims and responded by revealing a deeply personal letter he received from Meghan following the wedding. There's no doubt that her royal baby - whether it be a boy or girl - will be equally stylish as its mom.
Fox Nation host David Webb said Monday that although a final conclusion has yet to be reached, there have been many "missing parts" in the investigation into the alleged crimes against actor Jussie Smollett.
They were promised an additional $500 upon their return to the United States, sources told CBS Chicago.
It's not clear who sent the letter, although Chicago police collected evidence from the apartment of two Nigerian brothers who allegedly helped Smollett orchestrate his hoax that may indicate the letter was also a hoax.
Then, on Saturday, Guglielmi indicated that "trajectory of the investigation" had "shifted", according to the Associated Press. "In the Marvel film distributed by Disney, Chadwick Boseman plays the superhero, though in Sabo's version of the poster Smollett looks a lot like the real thing only he's called 'Black Prankster'". Jussie Smollett's lawyers are in contact with the Chicago Police Department. Calling the attack a racist and homophobic hate crime, civil rights leaders and politicians rallied to Smollet's defense. "But Smollett was the ideal victim for a media that deems any skepticism heresy". He also said he had bleach thrown at him and a rope tied around his neck during the attack. "No matter who is right or wrong, we can not not get to the truth here", Sharpton said.
"I wouldn't stoop to those cowards.in terms of allowing what they did to effect how I'm telling my story", Mahoney said.
"If his story does turn out to be false, the same people who gave him his platform could end his career", Drazdovich said. New reports claim the actor/singer rehearsed his now-infamous Chicago attack days before it went down.
