Neil Barlow, head of vehicle engineering at the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), which administers vehicle recalls, said: "DVSA's priority is to protect everyone from unsafe drivers and vehicles".

Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover celebrated the XJ's 50 anniversary previous year when it announced on multiple occasions plans for an all-new auto. The recall is thought to be the first Carbon dioxide related recall for JLR.
"The modifications made to affected vehicles will be made free of charge and every effort will be made to minimise inconvenience to the customer during the short time required for the work to be carried out", Jaguar Land Rover said in a statement.
It affects Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles fitted with either a 2.0-litre petrol or 2.0-litre diesel engine.

The repairs are expected to include software updates as well as physical alterations.
