Two women are set to make history by conducting the first ever all-female spacewalk - and it's just in time for Women's History Month.

In addition to Facciol, the spacewalk will have NASA's Mary Lawrence as its Lead Flight Director and Jackie Kagey as the EVA (spacewalk) flight controller, a NASA spokesperson told CNN.

"These spacewalks were originally scheduled to take place in the fall", Schierholz added, illustrating the reality of scheduling contingencies.

McClain also joined NASA in 2013, the year NASA's astronaut class was 50 percent female. She also suggested that plans, including assignments, may still change depending on the circumstances.

McClain was part of Expedition 58 and this will be the first spaceflight for Koch, who will be the flight's engineer. McClain is already on board the ISS while Koch is scheduled to launch to the station on March 14. They can last anywhere from five to eight hours, according to NASA.

Faccio Tweeted she's over the moon about being part of the historic spacewalk. Since then, 59 women have flown to space as of 2017, including cosmonauts, astronauts, payload specialists and foreign national, according to NASA. Only 34% of NASA's astronauts are women, and Sally Ride became the first American woman in space in 1983, over a decade after we put a man on the moon.

Britain to Grant Jailed UK-Iranian Mother 'diplomatic Protection'
The announcement was welcomed by her husband, Richard Ratcliffe , who has been lobbying ministers to take the step for some time. The development means the case will now be treated as a formal, legal dispute between Britain and Iran.

Schierholz also noted that an all-female spacewalk wasn't something the organization was specifically planning for, it just happened to work out this way.

"Our honest congrats to all earthlings who have enabled the opening of this next chapter in space exploration", McClain said during a welcoming ceremony for Crew Dragon.

The walk is the first of its kind ever since a Soviet woman Svetlana Savitskaya walked on July 25, 1984 in space.

Besides the McClain and Koch, several other prominent women are supporting this historic spacewalk.
