The National Weather Service released flood maps and said flooding is expected to continue through the weekend and lingering into the following week along the Missouri River. While additional rises are not expected to be massive, the river may not crest until Saturday or Sunday in this area.
A flood watch has been issued for the Grand River through Grand Valley, West Montrose, Brantford, Six Nations Territory, Caledonia and Cayuga.
The South Raccoon River is forecast to rise to 20.8 feet, or 0.8 feet above flood stage, Thursday morning and then begin falling to below flood stage by midday.
"This is a Flash Flood Emergency for the area around the Platte River from Schuler to Ashland and is a particularly risky situation".
A flood warning has been issued for the Missouri River at Kansas City as well. The city is now working to bolster levees. The chance the river will reach major flood stage in Fargo increased from 50 percent last week to 90 percent.

Marc Chenard, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, told NPR many areas will remain water-logged for days. Flood coordinators are advised to monitor conditions along River Drive (south of Caledonia), Sims Lock Road, Grand Sports Road as well as the communities of Cayuga and Port Maitland.
