Israeli warplanes on Friday struck about 100 Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip in response to a rare rocket attack on Tel Aviv.

The Israeli military has concluded that the militant Hamas group of Gaza fired two rockets toward the Israeli coastal city of Tel Aviv.

It said targets included an office complex allegedly used by Hamas to coordinate militant operations in the occupied West Bank.

Israeli officials say that amounts to calling for the Jewish state's destruction, and accuse Hamas, the Islamist movement that runs the Gaza Strip, of orchestrating the protests.

Both Hamas and Islamic Jihad, for their part, have denied any responsibility for the alleged rocket attack, with the latter group issuing a statement holding Israel responsible for the latest escalation.

There have been no reported fatalities, only one man and one woman were wounded, the Gaza Health Ministry said.

Following the first Israeli airstrikes, several additional rounds of rocket fire were launched into Israel. There have been no reports of casualties or damage as of yet.

On March 14, rockets are fired from Gaza towards the region of Tel Aviv.
